Some of the most notable are Tomorrow Never Dies; Titanic; Pearl Harbor; Master and Commander; Troy; Apocalypto; The Mask of Zorro; Man on Fire; Traffic and Frida, among others. Mexico has turned the most ambitious and demanding visions of legendary film directors into reality, among them John Huston, Sam Peckinpah, Louis Malle, David Lynch, Steven Spielberg, Peter Weir and James Cameron.
Films produced in Mexico have received many awards from international critics, thanks to Mexican talent and creativity. Amores Perros, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, was an Oscar nominee in 2001, won 52 international awards and received 14 nominations. Similarly, Babel in 2007 and Biutiful in 2011, from the same director.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button received an Oscar in 2009 for visual effects created by Ollin Studios, a Mexican company founded in 1996.
Pan's Labyrinth received an Oscar for best photography in 2007, thanks to the talent of Mexican artist Guillermo Navarro.
There are animators in Mexico whose talent has contributed to the most successful films and animated series of our times, such as The Prince of Egypt, Toy Story, Shrek, Madagascar and Avatar, The Last Airbender, to name just a few.
