In 2017, the Italian company announced that it will be investing around 700 million dollars in the construction of four new wind plants in Mexico, with more than 500 jobs to be generated. The new plants are due to enter into operation in the first half of 2020.
Three of the plants will be located in Coahuila; two of them will have a total installed capacity of 100 MW each one and the third one will have an installed capacity of 149 MW. The fourth facility will be located in Nuevo León and will have an installed capacity of 244 MW.
In 2017, the Spanish company announced the construction of two new photovoltaic solar plants in Mexico. With a 135 million dollar investment, the photovoltaic plant at Hermosillo, Sonora, will have 392,940 panels of 345 W and 350 W. The project at Santiago, San Luis Potosí, will have 663,840 photovoltaic modules of 345 W, 350 W and 355 W.
The subsidiary of the North American company Sempra Energy will invest 115 million dollars to build and operate a photovoltaic solar center at Caborca, Sonora, with an installed capacity of 110 MW. The project is estimated to generate 500 jobs during the construction stage. It is expected that the plant will start to operate by the end of 2018, dedicating 100% of its capacity to supply the steel company Deacero.
